Michelle Wasson
Red, Yellow, Blue
Exhibition Dates: May 7-29,2016
Opening Reception:
Saturday, May 7 | 2-5pm
Red, Yellow, Blue recalls days of playful pranks while celebrating the power of Painting. Capturing the moment of limitless possibilities when paints are first placed on a palette, Wasson re-imagines a suburban rooftop and front yard with her shiny primary colored blobs.
Michelle Wasson is an artist based in Chicago. Her most recent works have been meditations on the process of art making. Through color-driven painting, collage, drawing and installation, she toys with the many deaths, limitations and history of Painting and how these become entangled with the intentions of the maker. Her work has recently been included in exhibitions at The Hyde Park Art Center, Antena gallery, REFUSALON in San Francisco, Durand Art Institute at Lake Forest College and What it is, Chicago. She received her MFA from Washington University in 2001, and has since served as faculty at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Columbia College Chicago and The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
