Other Neighbors: an installation by Melissa Pokorny @ Terrain

Melissa Pokorny makes work that considers the sense of place. Her sculptures and objects often utilize imagery gleaned from gardens in and around her Urbana neighborhood, and they attempt to reveal other ways of being. The outdoor tableau made for Terrain Exhibitions, “Other Neighbors”, is for the birds. (And also Ree Morton.)

Melissa Pokorny lives and works in Urbana, Illinois. She has worked and shown extensively for over twenty five years. Pokorny received an M.F.A. in Studio Practice from the University of California, Davis. Her work has been shown in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Chicago, and New York City, and is in the collections of the Oakland Museum of California, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Orange County Museum of Art. She lives, works, and teaches in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.
