Devin Balara, Josh Shorey & Corinna Herndon Ray, artists

Corinna Herndon Ray is a contemporary sculptor from coastal Alabama. In 2010, she received her BFA with a concentration in both printmaking and photography from Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama. After graduation, she moved back to the coast and worked as a graphic designer with a marketing firm in Fairhope, Alabama. Ray soon became the principal designer and continued working with the firm for the next three years. Currently, she is attending the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee pursuing her MFA, as well as holding a graduate teaching position, in sculpture. Her background in printmaking and photography reveals itself in her use of pattern, perspective, and repeated forms, and she attributes her ability to establish direct material and conceptual relationships to her time spent in the marketing world.

Joshua Shorey is a current Sculpture MFA candidate at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He received his BFA from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia in 2007. Born in rural Maine, he learned to cultivate a perpetual hope for short summers. He considers his practice as an artist to be one among many facets of what it means to live life well. His interests in art include installation, performance, and video.

Devin Balara hails from the aggressively pastel suburbs of Tampa, FL. She received a BFA in sculpture from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL and an MFA in sculpture from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. She is a recipient of the 2014 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award, a full fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center residency program, a residency at 8550 Ohio, and a curatorial assistantship with the Building department at Elsewhere Museum in Greensboro, NC. National solo and group exhibitions include Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Jacksonville, FL, Manifest Gallery in Cincinatti, OH, Project Space One in Iowa City and the Indianapolis Art Center in Indiana.
