Sonnenzimmer (Nick Butcher & Nadine Nakanishi), artists
Sonnenzimmer is the collaborative graphic arts practice of Nick Butcher and Nadine Nakanishi. Since 2006, the duo has produced hundreds of posters and publications for some of Chicago's most recognized cultural institutions, as well as engaging in their on idiosyncratic take on contemporary art production. Merging painting, printing, typography, textile design, music, and publishing, they hope to synthesize the middle ground between mediums to create a unique whole, while envisioning the graphic future. Their work has been exhibited nationally and internationally with recent shows at at The Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and Minneapolis College of Art and Design and upcoming exhibits at Texas State University and Vebikus Kunsthalle Schaffhausen, Switzerland.
