Hose Weave

By Artist Victoria Fuller

With help from assistants and collaborators:

Jerico Domingo and Amanda Berry

I employ found or appropriated common objects and take them out of their normal contexts, liberating them from their original function, in order to use them as building materials to create different conglomerate objects and installations. Subjects presented in my work explore different social, cultural, and psychological states.

These hoses of different colors are no longer serving their normal function, but instead are being used as threads to create a woven pattern. Something that we recognize as commonplace and never give a second thought to becomes line, color and composition. Like water, the design flows out of the coiled bundles. Water spigots are at the center of the bundles, indicating a source and terminal to the flowing design from the porch to the ground.

* Special Thanks to Lynn and Doug Rees for donating their home and lawn for this project
