The path along Inglis drive, a paper road (accessible only on foot) between Mimosa, Crestmoore and Glassell Park.
The Terrain Biennial is an international exhibition of site-specific art made for front yards, balconies, and porches. Sponsored in Los Angeles by the Association of Hysteric Curators, an artists collective dedicated to advancing the lives of feminist artists. The Terrain Biennial Los Angeles will open on Sunday, October 1st, at 3651 Mimosa Dr., Los Angeles, 90065, and feature the work of Tawny Featherston. The Biennial will continue in November across Mimosa Drive and Crestmoore Drive in Glassell Park with events focused on the mythology, ritual and magic embodied in the artwork of the late Ana Mendieta. The Ana Mendieta performance day November 12, on Mimosa Dr, and Crestmoore Place will include the work of over twenty Los Angeles based performance artists all day and will premiere three site specific installation pieces by Rachel Finkelstein, Christine Dianne Guiyangco, Emily Sudd, and Kim Truong.
Guiyangco, and Sudd’s installations will be viewable from the street throughout the month of November.
Continuing a massive expansion that began with the second Terrain Biennial, Terrain has reached out to sites all across the country as well as internationally. In 2015, 75 artists and three collectives created site interventions at over 60 locations around the United States, and in other countries. The Terrain Biennial originated in Oak Park Illinois at Terrain Exhibitions run by Guggenheim recipient Sabina Ott.
